Michael Ryan is an economics director on the industry insights team specializing in applied industry analytics.

Mike partners with a wide range of leaders in business, finance, and government to strategically analyze industry investment opportunities through the application of advanced analytics. He has extensive experience helping businesses scale their market intelligence, forecasting, and performance benchmarking capabilities. Mike manages the company’s Sector Risk service, used by financial clients as an ‘early warning radar’ to monitor and mitigate credit risk exposure. He is a recognized thought leader and prolific public speaker at international industry events.

Prior to joining S&P through a merger with S&P Global, he started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory, supporting Federal stabilization programs at the onset of the 2008 financial crisis. Mr. Ryan holds a BBA in Finance from James Madison University, United States, and he received his Master of Science with Distinction in banking and international finance from the University of London’s Bayes Business School, United Kingdom. He is a Japanese Kakehashi scholar and served as the 2018 president of the National Economists Club (NEC), representing over 500 leading professionals in the Washington, D.C. metro area. He is currently based in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA.
